TA+A CI Design Renewal

スケールの横断という設計の特殊性をロゴタイプと結びつける

2016年に行った当社の呼称変更と同時に、ロゴタイプのデザインを刷新した際の計画である。我々は図面を書く行為を通じて、都市スケールであれば1/10000から1/1500、周辺地域を含めると1/1000から1/200、配置図だと1/200から1/100、平面図や製作図は1/100から1/1の原寸まで、同じ一本の線でも全く異なる意味をもつ縮尺の世界を設計作業のなかで日々横断している。「罫線」で表現した「+A」部分は、紙面に対して表示されるロゴのサイズが大きくなるほどに密な印象に、小さくなるほど疎な印象へと、スケールで印象が変化するロゴタイプを意図して計画した。  グラフィック分野で協働している〈tomuradesign〉にデザインを依頼した。当社はデザインのもとになる考え方を示し、幾度となく社内のブレインストーミングをデザイナーを交え行うことで計画を進めた。社外の専門性との恊働を自らのブランディングの際にも実践し製作されたものは恣意ではなく客観のなかに生まれたものとなる。考え方を他者とできるだけ共有しながら今後もデザイン活動を行っていきたいと考えている。

Connecting the design peculiarity of scale traversal to the logotype  

 

This was the plan when we redesigned the logotype, concurrently with the change of our firm's name, which took place in 2016. Through the act of drawing, we traverse a world of scales that have completely different meanings, ranging from 1/1000 to 1/1500 for urban scales, from 1/1000 to 1/200 if the surrounding area is included, from 1/200 to 1/100 for layout drawings, and from 1/100 to 1/1 full scale for floor plans and production drawings. The same line has a completely different meaning in the world of scale. The "+A" part expressed with "ruled lines" was planned with the intention of creating a logotype whose impression changes with scale: the larger the size of the logo, the denser the impression, and the smaller the impression, the more sparse.  The design was commissioned to "tomuradesign," with whom we collaborate in the field of graphics. We presented the basic design concept and proceeded with the plan through numerous internal brainstorming sessions with the designers. We also collaborated with outside experts in our own branding, and the result was not arbitrary, but rather objective. We would like to continue our design activities while sharing our ideas with others as much as possible.
